Autocare Sponsers Local School Rugby Strip Competition
|
During the RWC, the Sports’ Coordinator saw and entered a competition run by the Advocate for a brand new Rugby Strip sponsored by Wild Haggis, ARC Security and Autocare. The captains of the JB7 (Tom Stevens) and JB9 (Isaac Dawson) also contributed. In no more than 100 words we had to justify why this strip should come to WBHS – here it is: WBHS lives and breathes Rugby; its part of our ethos. Our 1st XV and JB8 teams (2011 grade winners) gained serious respect. With teams in 5 grades, undertaking 3 tournaments and hosting and accommodating school Rugby teams from Canada, the UK, Argentina and Chile - our strips are showing signs of wear. We play in black and hero-worship the All Blacks especially those who are our Old Boys. Rugby players are our ambassadors and smart uniform is very important to us. A new strip would inspire our boys to greater things and mean a huge amount to our school community. WBHS was fortunate to be selected as winner of this competition, and high quality shirts, shorts and socks to the value of $5000 have been ordered for the 2012 season: Without the generous support of Wild Haggis, ARC Security and Autocare, our school would be in such a good position to kit out our rugby teams, and we thank them for their foresight andsubstantial donation to a most worthy cause. Our 1st XV boys will be proud to be presented their strips at assembly, and will do battle with an extra sense of pride on the Rugby field. The knock-on effect is that our other teams will also benefit as we are now in a better position to purchase other rugby kit for our needy JB teams. Rod Cunliffe |
